Christmas card issues..

  • Dec. 22nd, 2009 at 11:33 AM
A lot of my friends moved this year. I am sending cards to old addresses. I also realized how many addresses I don't have. If I hadn't been so involved in the hospital the last 3 weeks I would have had time to sort and see who I had/needed. Well, I guess this year is a bust. I am trying though. I will start getting new addresses soon..ish.

Have you ever walked off a job on the spot? What drove you to it? Did you regret it afterwards?

I arrived at work early (like I had learned to do) in order to catch myself a desk. I worked in a call center where we had more people than stations. We got written up for being late if we did not log in to a phone on time. However, with no desk, this was a nearly impossible feat. I finally got smart enough to arrive early, hover (which was not allowed), and spring on a desk when someone logged out. If you didn't do this (meaning if you arrived on time) you were very likely to not get a desk. Well, this time I guess more people had picked up on coming early. Even with a 20 minute head start, I could not find a desk. I walked the floor for an open station for half an hour after the start of the shift. After informing 2 managers (who reminded me I would be marked tardy for not being logged in) I literally left. I had not come to work planning to quit, but I just could not stand the policies anymore. I did not regret it at all.

P.S. I found a job that payed $2 an hour more about a week later. AND I had a dedicated desk only for me. ^_^ YAY!
